Adventurers and athletes alike will be heading to the small Buddhist kingdom of Bhutan for the Tour of the Dragon bike race, a 268km course that will take riders over four mountain passes in just one day. Known as one of the toughest single-day mountain bike races, the journey begins at 2:00 AM on September 2nd, and finishes in the capital city of Thimphu.

With Bhutan’s breathtakingly beautiful high mountains, deep mystic valleys and pristine forests as the backdrop, this event is truly a biker’s paradise. In honor of Tour of the Dragon, Gangtey Lodge has put together an exclusive package for guests competing in the race who are looking for last minute training and important body preparation.

The luxury property will provide meticulously thought out meals, challenging practice runs and targeted spa treatments to prepare you for the big day. With only twelve guestrooms, Gangtey Lodge is an exclusive and peaceful sanctuary that riders can enjoy after the race is over as well.

The entire package includes:

• Full board with nutritionally tailored meals by Executive Chef
• 60-minute massage and hot stone bath (for 2pax)
• 90-minute muscle relief massage (1 pax)
• A relaxing bath in suite
• Evening prayer at Shedra
• All rides accompanied by Mark Wright, General Manager
• Laundry service
• Transfer to the race

The package will cost $2,400 USD for 4 nights at double-occupancy.

Climbing hills for hours on end can take a toll on your muscles, and the best treatment for deep muscle repair should include heat. Gangety Lodge recommends their signature Stone Bath Experience, offered in their new hot stone bath house.

The treatment combines ancient Bhutanese medicinal practices with unobstructed views of the magnificent Gangtey Valley. In a specially prepared Bhutanese Dotsho, or hot stone bath, fresh spring water is used and river stones are collected and heated to warm the bath. Following a signature massage and foot scrub, guests will slip into their individually prepared bath and soak for 30 minutes. Champagne and beer can be enjoyed while soaking, or afterwards while relaxing in luxurious robes. You will leave feeling energized and rejuvenated.
