The Spa at Cedarbrook, Healthy Living + TravelThis little oasis in SeaTac, Washington immediately stole my heart. The Spa is part of the Cedarbrook Lodge; situated on 15 acres of wetlands just 5 minutes from the Seattle airport. I immediately felt a sense of calm after a long flight from my home in South Florida. Hard cedar adorning the Lodge, ponds, trees and picture windows leave you feeling like you are actually somewhere deep in the woods.

The Spa opened in September 2014 and is a little jewel nestled on the first floor of the Lodge. It’s quiet and serene. The décor and materials used in the space really make you feel as if you are where you are-the Pacific Northwest! The attention to detail in the spa’s design is amazing- from the textured walls to the stone hand sinks, it’s a beautiful space.

Entering the spa, a cozy couch awaited me in the relaxation room as a warm fireplace crackled in the middle of the room. Sipping on a cup of hot tea, the large couch was the perfect place to stretch out and relax before my service. I elected to have the 50 minute, Hydrating Herbal Facial. The room was very comfortable and the table warmer ensured that the chilly February afternoon outside was a distant memory. Every time I receive a facial I am curious as to the condition of my skin and what I can do to maintain it. Intent on getting some expert advice (especially since it had been awhile since my last facial), I asked a few pointed questions. The esthetician, Elizabeth, was a wealth of knowledge and helped educate me on exactly how I could take care of my skin on a daily basis.

The spa is small and intimate. This really lends to the staff giving superior service. As an avid spa goer, I am always paying attention to the level of presence the staff is demonstrating, in other words, am I a name or just a number. From the moment I entered until the moment I left, a warm blanket of attention enveloped me- making me feel completely taken care of. This one variable usually determines whether or not I will be a repeat customer.

In closing, I must recommend drifting out of the spa into the adjoining restaurant, The Copperleaf. It’s an authentic farm-to table experience and it’s so close, you can even keep on your robe!
