The influential wine industry publication Wine Spectator has announced their 2019 Wine of the Year, 2016 Chateau Leoville Barton. From over 15,000 wines, the 97 point 2016 Chateau Leoville Barton was the year’s favourite. The wine was chosen based on quality, value, availability and x-factor (excitement).

Chateau Leoville Barton is a vineyard in the Saint-Julien appellation of the Bordeaux region of France. Château Léoville Barton is also the name of the red wine produced by this property.

Wine Spectator reviews the 2016 Chateau Leoville Barton as “packing some serious punch and drive, with a terrific core of blueberry, açai and plum reduction notes, backed by waves of graphite and roasted apple wood. Has the pleasantly chewy feel typical of St.-Julien, along with an extra-racy graphite edge”. The wine retails for $98 USD.
