If you’re not a fan of sunshine, warm mild temperatures, miles and miles of thought-calming sandy beaches and the sound of the crashing Atlantic Ocean surf, then you may not want to visit South Carolina. However, If you’re drawn to Southern hospitality, luxurious accommodations, unique wellness offerings, and a welcoming, active and relaxing resort experience, you should consider visiting Wild Dunes Resort at Isle of Palms, South Carolina. This slender barrier island is perched on the edge of The Palmetto State, a 30-minute drive from historic Charleston.

The Spa at Sweetgrass

Raising the bar on hospitality, comfort and relaxation, The Spa at Sweetgrass (situated within the Inn at Sweetgrass) is exquisite. Sharing a beautiful design palette with the inn’s guest rooms, lobby and public areas, the spa’s design pays homage to the island’s clear blue skies, endless sand dunes and fresh ocean air. The spa offers a wide range of services including massages, facials, body rituals, manicures, pedicures and salon services. You can personalize your massage with a CBD, arnica, and magnesium enhancement, or add a foot, hand, or scalp treatment to ‘boost’ your experience. There is an outdoor jacuzzi and spa cabanas to make your spa experience last even longer, and a large retail shop filled with many items to tempt your interest.

Recreation

Relaxation and recreation abound at Wild Dunes Resort, home to a wide array of activities almost too numerous to mention. The resort offers 36-holes of golf designed by Tom Fazio, the Links Course, and the Harbor Course. Wild Dunes is one of the leading destinations for both tennis and pickleball, and provides a variety of daily programs for players of all levels. The Beach

One of my favorite memories was waking before dawn to walk the beach. Fueled by complimentary coffee, mini-muffins, and fruit from the Sweetgrass Inn’s lobby, I would walk through the sleepy resort towards the sounds from the shore. Even though I couldn’t see the ocean, I could hear it … And soon feel it, as the energy of the crashing waves reverberated as I walked onto the sand. With only a few other souls on the beach, we felt we had the entire Atlantic to ourselves.

No Reason to Leave

What surprised me most about my visit to Wild Dunes Resort was the overall sense of how it made me feel. In a word, relaxed. Everything was at my fingertips. A walkable resort with great dining options, high service levels and friendly and helpful staff. I could have easily spent a week here. No need to drive anywhere and no reason to leave. Wild Dunes provided the complete resort experience, in a beautiful and dramatic setting.
