Victoria’s Oak Bay Beach Hotel has partnered with British Columbia’s Bella Wines for a new, privately labeled sparkling wine. Born out of a shared passion for sparkling wine, owners Jay Drysdale and Wendy Rose have created a phenomenal sparkling wine house in Naramata, British Columbia. Quietly pushing the boundaries of sparkling products in BC, Bella Wines has claimed many “firsts” in their industry.
They opened in 2011 to become BC’s first dedicated sparkling wine house and were the first to offer a traditional method of sparkling wine that is all-natural, with nothing added. “We were very intentional when looking for a local winery to partner with us for our private label sparkling wine,” says Madone Pelan, Oak Bay Beach Hotel General Manager.
“Bella’s passion for their process and product made them the perfect producer to work with. We wanted to invoke the feeling of one entering their hotel room for the first time, taking in the spectacular views of our mineral pools against the backdrop of the Salish Sea, and at that moment, (true to our classic tagline Inhale, Exhale), relax, unwind, and pop this beautiful bottle of bubbles.”
The Oak Bay Beach Hotel is proud to offer a successful wine program, having become a respected wine purveyor in the destination. The Hotel’s own FARO Handcrafted Pizza and Tasting Room’s wine list was recently recognized by the Wine Spectator Awards for 2023 with the Award of Excellence. From its distinguished wine list to their wine-focused events like its annual Winemaker’s Dinner Series, the hotel is proud to provide its guests with various exceptional wines.
The private label bubbles are pale pink in colour, with the palate presenting cherry and raspberry up front with a crisp green apple finish. The label showcases art by local artist Janice Hildybrant, depicting the hotel’s inspiring views. Hotel guests can purchase this exclusive bottle in any Hotel’s dining outlets or order it in their room upon arrival.
Bella’s Inhale, Exhale sparkling wine will join the Hotel’s collection of private labels, featuring a white wine with Unsworth Vineyards called Allora, available only in FARO Handcrafted Pizza and Tasting Room. The Hotel will host Bella Wines for an intimate Winemaker’s Dinner in the Grand Lobby on November 9, 2023. Upon arrival, the evening begins with a welcome glass of sparkling wine, followed by a five-course tasting menu created by Executive Chef Kreg Graham. Tickets can be purchased now.
